Claims her name derives from the movie Reservoir Dogs (1992). while seeing the movie with friends, they all agreed that she resembled the character Mr. Pink, played by Steve Buscemi. They thought the name to be a great irony, as she was a tomboy.

Her first solo single, "There You Go", was released in February 2000 and became her first top-ten hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, where it peaked at number seven. Internationally, the song also charted inside the top ten in Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom.
